Orange and Coffee Vodka Experiment

30 Nov

What to do when you want to get rid of some vodka your husband doesn’t like:

Plus some month-old coffee beans:

You buy an orange, stab it 40 times with a knife and stuff coffee beans into the holes!

A few people have recommend variations of this vodka infusion, and I figured I don’t have anything to lose by giving it a shot. Vodka is the only expensive ingredient and it was languishing in the booze cupboard, taking up precious space.

I chucked the orange in a jar, poured vodka over it and will leave it for a month and see how it goes. The little black things floating up top are extra coffee beans that we chucked in.

Updates will follow!

How’d it go? I’m thinking of spicing some rum, ever tried it?

It went pretty badly! Maybe I left it too long but it was really awful. I’ve never tried spicing rum (though a friend here has done infused jalapeno tequila which was awesome). Good luck – hopefully yours turns out better than mine did!
